Breast Reconstruction Case 229

Patient is a 65 year-old female who came into the office to discuss breast reconstruction options. The patient had a previous history of breast cancer in the left breast that was treated with lumpectomy without any radiation or chemo. Years later she underwent a needle biopsy of her left breast which revealed ductal carcinoma in-situ, grade 3. After discussion of her options, the patient underwent bilateral mastectomies with stage I reconstruction involving the placement of tissue expanders. Stage II reconstruction with a second surgery involving replacement of tissue expanders with reconstructive silicone implants.
