Breast Reconstruction Case 156

65 year old white female was diagnosed with breast cancer and had bilateral mastectomies. Shortly after the mastectomies, she underwent a breast reconstruction at Northside Hospital. She had irregular scaring, healing and also has a capsule formation. This patient wanted a secondary reconstruction to make her breasts look as natural and full as possible.

During surgery, the previous gel implants were removed as well as extra skin and fat from the breast to create a breast lift. Once removed, the capsule was elevated and a 750 cc gel implant was selected and placed bilaterally. This size was approximatey the same size as her previous implant. Next, the breast lift was completed and enhanced the shape of her breasts.

This patient experienced a major improvement in breast symmetry, volume, shape and contour. She is extremely pleased with the result. There is a sufficent more amount of projection and fullness, two things the patient yearned for most. She wil retuen for nipple and areola reconstruction after adequate healing time.
