Breast Augmentation Case 163

40 year old female comes into the office weighing 112 pounds and at a height of 5'3. She had a breast augmentation 5 years ago with 400 cc saline implants. Her implants were supposed to be placed underneath the muscle; however, according to her previous surgeon, her tissues and skin were too thin to place the implants subpectorally. As a result, her implants are severely malpositioned and mobile.

Her breasts are abnormal. Her implants are below her nipple and areola. When she lays down, her implants fall far to the sides of her body near her armpits. There is a sufficient amount of space between her breasts, this creating a wide sternum. Rippling is also very visible.

Given the patient's condition, it was recommended to perform a bilateral breast reconstruction, augmentation and implant replacement with 300 cc gel implants. Scar tissue was removed from around the implants. In addition, a bilateral breast lift was performed to eliminate the loose and extra skin and to bring the areola and nipple to a better position on her chest.

This patient is ecstatic about her results. Her breast  are in a much better position and are soft and mobile.
